1 Service Description

FactSentinel is an AI-powered fact-checking service available as a browser extension. The service analyzes text claims and provides assessments of their accuracy using artificial intelligence.

2 Account Registration

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must be at least 13 years old to use this service
• One account per person; multiple accounts may be terminated

3 Service Tiers and Usage Limits

FactSentinel offers multiple service tiers to fit your needs:

• Free Platform: Limited monthly checks using our AI infrastructure
• Premium Platform: Higher limits and priority processing
• Your Own Keys: Use your own OpenAI/Anthropic API keys for maximum privacy and control

4 Subscription and Billing

• Premium subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled
• You may cancel at any time; access continues until the billing period ends
• Refunds are provided at our discretion for technical issues
• Usage limits reset on the 1st of each month

5 Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to bypass rate limits or usage restrictions
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the extension
• Share your account or API keys with others
• Use automated tools to make bulk requests
• Interfere with the service's operation or security
• Resell or redistribute the service without permission

7 Your Own Keys Terms

When using your own API keys:

• You are responsible for obtaining and paying for your own API keys
• Your API keys are stored locally in your browser
• We are not responsible for charges incurred with AI providers
• You must comply with OpenAI's and Anthropic's terms of service
• We do not access or store your API keys on our servers

8 Intellectual Property

• The FactSentinel extension, website, and brand are our property
• You retain rights to the text you submit for fact-checking
• You grant us a limited license to process your submissions for the service
• You may not copy, modify, or distribute our software without permission

9 Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect and use your information.

10 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• The service is provided "as is" without warranties
• We are not liable for decisions made based on our assessments
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months
• We are not responsible for third-party services (OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe)

11 Service Availability

• We strive for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee availability
• We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice
• We may modify or discontinue features with notice
• We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms

12 Termination

• You may delete your account at any time
• We may terminate accounts for violations of these terms
• Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately
• Sections on liability, disputes, and intellectual property survive termination

13 Changes to Terms

We may update these terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the extension. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

14 Governing Law and Disputes

• These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA
• Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration
• Class action lawsuits are waived to the extent permitted by law
• Small claims court remains available for qualifying disputes
