The claim that 5G networks spread COVID-19 is scientifically impossible. COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which spreads between people through respiratory droplets and aerosols when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, or breathes. Viruses are biological organisms that require living cells to replicate, and they cannot travel through radio waves or mobile phone networks. Radio waves are a form of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, which lacks sufficient energy to damage DNA or carry biological material. The World Health Organization, along with leading health agencies worldwide, has confirmed there is no connection between 5G technology and the coronavirus.

This misconception likely arose from the coincidental timing of 5G network rollouts in various countries during 2019 and 2020, which overlapped with the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, COVID-19 spread rapidly in many urban areas where 5G infrastructure was being deployed, leading some to incorrectly associate the two. However, the virus has spread extensively in numerous countries and regions with no 5G networks at all, demonstrating that the technology plays no role in transmission. Scientific evidence consistently shows that COVID-19 spreads through person-to-person contact, not through wireless technology.

The physics of how viruses and radio waves function are fundamentally incompatible with this claim. Radio frequencies used by 5G networks operate similarly to previous generations of mobile technology and have been extensively tested for safety. Understanding that viruses require direct biological transmission helps clarify why telecommunications infrastructure cannot serve as a vector for disease spread.
